The Life Photo

While I was sitting in the park today having lunch with some friends, we noticed a lot of people taking photographs of the things around them.
Some were taking pictures of the grass, others of the statues and some just taking pictures of their friends and family against historical buildings.
There was one girl who was taking pictures of her feet around different parts of the park.
While we were having a bit of a laugh and a joke at the idea that people might want to take pictures of things that to us, seemed relatively unimportant, I asked my friends the question:
If you were to take a still picture that represented your life, what would that picture be like?
We all thought about it for a few minutes before coming back with some silly and some more meaningful answers which includes things like: An anchor representing how i hold things down and keep things secure, A man leaping from a cliff into freedom, a man chained to a wall, a ball of energy spreading across a globe.
I then asked:
If you could make the picture of your life the most inspiring an amazing thing ever, what would you change?
So here’s the experiment:
- Ask yourself the question: If I was to take a still picture that represented my life, what would that picture be like?
- Notice the content of the picture, the colours, the “meaning” or metaphor you place behind that image and the feelings it conjures up.
- Ask yourself the second question: If I could make the picture of my life the most inspiring and desirable thing for myself, what would that be like?
- Notice the difference between what your original picture was like and what this new picture is like then…
- Ask yourself… What am I going to do to make my life more like the picture I want it too be?
As always, I look forward to your feedback
Love, Jamie
